Paul D. Henry, 64, of Caldwell, OH

Well, been busy and a lot has been going on around us too. So here is the short version update…trust me it’s the short version.

First, I want to mention the passing of “Uncle” Paul Henry. He was my uncle until divorce, but I always considered him as such. He was a good guy, just riddled with some illnesses every since he had to jump from a oil rig as it was “blowing up”.

CALDWELL – Paul D. Henry, 64, of Caldwell, died Thursday (Feb. 25, 2010) at Southeastern Med in Cambridge.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, 609 West St., Caldwell, with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Cemetery in Caldwell. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

We’ll miss him and are praying for the family.

Next up, Jack. Jack was burned the other day at the plant. He was draining a propane chiller when it flashed on him. It burned his right hand, and face. The worse burns were to his hand. His face was just red and a little swollen. Not to make out that he is not hurting – I am sure he is. He does seem in fair spirits about it though. I don’t want to go into any details or anything like that. We both work for the same company and I know they will investigate the accident. I don’t want to post anything that might contradict what they find or might find, yet. Who knows, I might not agree later, but our company usually does a great job of investigating and correcting these things.

…and finally me. I started shaving with straight razors. Yup, straight razors. The cut your throat and bleed to death and can’t scream because of the blood straight razors. George, my father-in-law, gave me several over 100 year old razors. My friend, Eric, has been teaching me how to get them back into shave status. We have even been restoring a very old Wade & Butcher straight that is my favorite so far.

The blade on the Wade & Butcher was nearly black and a little pitted from the years of no use. We took the scales (handles) off of it and he has been restoring the blade while I get some new custom scales built for it. He just emailed me a picture of what the blade looks like. Awesome!

Eric has been schooling Craig and I on all this. He has showed me ho to hone the blades, how to strop the blades, and even what I need to buy, etc. He has a long way to go though.  We’re far from efficient with them yet, but getting better. Right now I am shaving with a couple 5/8 singing razors. They are little thin things compared to that Wade & Butcher. They take a little more pressure, and I think I am using too much pressure.

My setup is very, well, old school and primitive right now – but it is getting better. Here is what it looks like now…and yes…I cut myself when I shave!
