Archer's Ridge by James A. Clark and Jack L. Clark jr
Just off the beaten path, high up on a hill
tucked away from life today where time stands still
They laid the cornerstone of a better life
and raised a family there on all that was good and right
There's not much left of Great Grandad's farm
weeds have overgrown the house and wind blew down the barn
but the foundation they laid is still holding strong
They worked hard all year round
"idle hands are the devil's playground"
they were true to family, country, and God
They worked, they played, they prayed,
they loved, they laughed, they lived
and faith was in everything they did
on Archer's Ridge
That cornerstone rests in my front yard
just a piece of sandstone but a big piece of my heart
and when my life starts moving too fast
i look at that old rock and take a trip to the past
They worked hard all year round
"idle hands are the devil's playground"
they were true to family, country, and God
They worked, they played, they prayed,
they loved, they laughed, they lived
and faith was in everything they did
on Archer's Ridge
