Reckless and Young by James A. Clark, Nick Edwards, Doug Eberman

Skipping rocks on old man whitman's pond
shooting turtles off a log
pickin guitars and singin songs
on the tailgate of that old ford

Scared of nothin and tougher than nails
church on sunday after a night of raising hell
a little afraid someone might tell
what we did last night

Stealing Daddy's smokes, cruisin main
pickin up girls after football games
probably get in trouble but it's worth the pain
all for that first kiss

We were worried 'bout a million things
like football games and homecoming queens
johnny, jack and ol jim beam
we were kings to the girls we like
bon fires and howling at the moon
staying out late and sleepin till noon
We liked fast cars and fast girls too
Man, we were reckless and young

lookin back i can remember now
i can almost hear the sounds
daddy sayin boy one day you'll settle down
trust me boy you'll see
now i Pull in from work and his mommas mad
she said "go on and tell your dad"
thinking now, those times weren't that bad
when we were reckless and young

We were worried 'bout a silly things
like football games and homecoming queens
johnny, jack and ol jim beam
don't mean that much to me
cub scout fires underneath the moon
football then college it came to soon
borrowing money and sneaking booze
just being reckless and young

back then we thought we had it so bad
they say youth is wasted on the young
wouldn't do anything different wouldn't take it back
and now their time has come to be
reckless and young
