God is awesome!

Made it back from a 1200+/- mile trip to the Frio River with a youth camp this past week. Had a great time, swimming, picking & grinning, nursing sunburns & bruises from the river, and most of all an awesome time getting closer to God.

The camp started off a little slow with the long drive which tends to get on my nerves a bit. Once we arrived though, I knew it was worth it. The scenery was beautiful, the accommodations way more than expected, and the river had water in it. LOL
As we unloaded our gear and got our cabins ready for the next few days, I couldnt help but think of what God had in store for us while we were there. This would be my first Christian Youth Camp, being I did not grow up going to church and all. So I was a bit clueless to how things would run. I did have a hope that it would allow me to learn more about God and the purpose He has for me. Turns out He did not let me down again.
As we did a sound check on our equipment and started playing, I noticed we were a bit rusty due to the lack of practice, but we still sounded decent. This was the first time to see a group of people worship during some of our originals, and it was just an awesome feeling. To think that they connected to God a little more due to the feelings you had put down on paper and put to music was really priceless.
The youth seemed very attentive and thirsty for a better relationship with God. I watched some of them during the teachings at night, and while we played. I talked it over with some others down there, about how I almost missed this. I was headed on a dead end road, wasting my life, but man was I cool. LOL I wish I would have been in church more during my youth, I know some of the things I did in the past I would have never missed.
The next day we hit the river. Floated downstream for 7 ? hours, and felt every bit of it when we reached our destination. The tubes gave us what we coined rubber rash, the sun gave most of us a good burn (even after two applications of sun screen), and the butt rocks bruised our bottoms, feet, and knees. Some of us got rolled pretty hard in the rapid areas, but no one seriousy hurt. Then the devil tried to get us off track a little with some confusion amongst the adults present. Then he through some other bad news our way, more praying and we sent him running like a coward.
We knew we were doing something to bring glory to God when this started, otherwise the devil would not have been so interested in us. There is nothing to big or to small for Jesus.
It was more swimming, eating, singing, and a trip to Uvalde to eat at a local Mexican food place. While there we had one of the youth get saved. We all kind of joked with him about getting called while in there, but it just shows that God is everywhere. You can accept Him no matter the time or place. It was awesome.
The last night we decided to tear down the drums, put up the electric guitars, and do it all acoustic. With the idea we could make it more personal. This was the most awesome night. The spirit and worship was strong, I could have went on for several more hours, I think we all could have.
Later that night we went for a midnight dip in the river.and froze. LOL Headed back to the cabin where we sang a few songs and worked on some new material. Then out of no where come water balloons, shaving cream, toothpaste, and toilet paper. LOL It was war!
A buddy and I locked ourselves and instruments in our bedroom (AKA sanctuary), and listened to it all go down. Even had a few wolves knock on our door to see if we were dumb enough to open it. LOL Been there, done that, go away. LOL
The clean up was well a mess, pillows covered with shaving cream put in the refrigerator, door handles, toilet seats, cars wrapped, and folks with tooth paste and shaving cream still in their ears. Needless to say, we all had fun.
God blessed me with a new song, new friends, and showed me more of His wonderful ways of working. I hope I can attend more of these, and pray that the youths fire for the Lord will not go out. I pray He will just continue to show us His mercy, grace, and purpose for each of us. Until next year
