Happy Mother’s Day 2016
Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers!
We celebrated by letting Jace go shopping. Then we spent the afternoon with friends. We did baby-back ribs and sausage on the smoker and played some dominos.
We talked about the different options for our future, since William is a builder and all. With Kaden starting junior high next year, it poses to be a more difficult year. We have been studying several options for him as well. At least we found Lubbock does have some facilities that can assist us. We will know more soon.
We have been entertaining the options of moving for a while now. With the city wanting to annex out here our taxes stand to take a 33% increase, which I want no part of. On the far side of the spectrum we have a neighbor whose dog will not shut the hell up. Yes, I have thought about killing it many times.
The garden has finally given us its first harvest of the year – radishes. I have a gallon bag full. Would have had more, but I ate as I dug them. There are still more to dig, but I will wait a few weeks for them.
The chickens are afraid of the dark. They will not go in the coop if the timer does not let the light come on. They will pile up in the door – literally. See pic below.
The wind reeked havoc on my pepper and tomato plants that did not have the cages I built around them. I ran out of wire, so I did not have every plant “caged”. I have all but a couple caged now, and those are at least staked. I hope they won’t get any further damage.
No matter what we decide on where to live by next year. Stay here or somewhere else, I will have a plan to battle the wind better out here. I also plan to build a small green house to allow me growing cabbage, lettuce, and other things that I have issues with out side. We will see.
Jace and the kids painted pictures the other night. I put a picture of their art below – see if you can pick which on Kaden painted.
Kaden still loves his chickens. Had to state that.
