Hurricane Ivan!!!

Hey folks, we had an interesting weekend thanks to Ivan. The band (newsonband.com), was scheduled to play a ‘Lock-In’ at an area church. We went down to setup and do a sound check around 9AM that morning, and things were going fine.

We did a sound check, had things ready for later that night and were just about to leave get a bite to eat and take a nap… then the electricity went out. No worries, we had the faith that God would have it back on when we got back. As we were about to walk outside, some folks came in to tell us roads were being shut down in town. We had no idea the rain was getting that bad outside since we had the volume up and had been inside all morning. So we sat and waited, then braved the roads back home.

We made it fine, after stopping to eat…let the traffic open back up a little and all. Got to take a well needed nap, and then LOL we were off to eat again and go lead a little praise. When we arrived, we had electricity and folks were getting ready for a night of fun worshiping God.

After the church’s praise band finished their set, we were just about to go on…when….BLACK..no electricity. We decided to wait and see what was to happen. After a little break we took up our acoustics and led some very fun worship in the dark, with only candles and flashlights to help us see what was going on. It was un-planned, but very fun and personal. The youth were very responsive to the worship that was going on. We took the oppurtunity to worship God in an unusual setting and ya’ll know what….His spirit moved, praises were lifted, and all with out electricity. LOL God is awesome!

After a break for some ice cream…before it began to melt… we located one of the electric companies service trucks…they advised us it would be about 4AM before we had any electricity. So we decided to call it a night. Overall, it was something none of us had ever done before, and would have most likely thought the night was a loss without the electricity… But God gave us a perfect chance to get back to the basics of worship. So we did.

We had a great time, love to see youth with their hearts on fire for God. Until next time,
JC
