Feeling better, and doing better…

Well, everyone seems to be on the “getting better” side of the stomach bug that’s been going around. I know I feel a lot better. My little pirate, Kade, is feeling himself. He is the one to blame for all the sickness…he brought it home. In fact Saturday, I could not just sit around anymore, so I called the “handy man” himself, Craig, and we worked on my patio.Craig, and I got started on the patio around lunch time Saturday. We had to make an assessment of where we left off and where we were headed. Been a while since I started this project, but life got in the way for a little while. Once we did that, it was off to Home Depot to rent a hammer drill. I bought one last time, but it was a Black & Decker…and a piece of crud. I will never buy another Black & Decker tool. None the less, this rental drill made short work of the anchor bolts I put in the slab.

We planned to have a few folks over later in the evening for some grilling and visiting. Seems like it has been a while since we all had time to hang out. Jack got the grill started for us, while Craig and I hammered on. It is coming together pretty good. There is a lot of little cuts to be made, because of the way I decided to design it. I want to counter sink my 2×4’s into the 2×6 rafters. That way it will be a little more sturdy, and the polycarbonate roofing that will cover 3/4 of the patio will be easier to set.

Anywhoo, this week I will come home and finish cutting the corbel’s, staining, and any other little cuts I can get done. We are shooting to have it all attached to the house by next Sunday. Once that is accomplished, I can go back and build the banister rail, and some other little decorative things I have to do. You can rest assured, with Craig and I on the engineering & design side of things – then team us with Mario and Jack for the building….this thing will look great and last for a long time. Why? ‘Cause we rock!

Oh yeah, we found something that, for a lack of better words….pissed me off. This is how they did every one of my eve vents. I will be sure to add this to the list of piss poor workmanship this builder has

shown me they’re capable of. You can guarantee this is the last house they will build for me or my family.

Here are a couple more shots showing how it is now. Enjoy, and hope to have you over sometime for a little grilling, back porch sitting, guitar picking, relaxing good time.
