Happy New Year 2010

Yeah, man, Jace and I partied down last night for New Years. LOL Actually we were both on call, and we sat at home – nice and warm. We watched a couple of movies and chilled out. Call it getting old, or call it because of work – I would have at least liked to have had a few family and friends over to visit. We just thought that as soon as we did that, we would be called out to work or something.

The moon was awesome looking last night though. I noticed it when i went out before bed to see if it was clearing off.

Jace is at work now. I just got out of the shower and tried my first straight razor shave. It was unsuccessful. No blood or anything, but I don’t think the razor blade is sharp enough. It kept pulling my whiskers more than the Gillette Mach 3. LOL I had a friend sharpen it, so – nothing against him, but maybe I need it professionally honed and all.

I enjoy the nostalgia, the prep, the relaxation and focus, the idea that it could be used as a weapon…and the “manly-ness” of the straight razor. So, I will keep on trying until I get it right or cut my throat. I know there are a few people waiting for the later.

I have an old Wade & Butcher razor that I really want to use. My friend and I are going to restore it and all first though. My father-in-law gave me several old straight razors. Just what I needed! LOL

Anyway, Kade and I need to run to town for the black eyed peas and greens we are out of. We’ll have the in-laws over for a visit tonight.

So – Happy New Year! May this year be more blessed than last.
