Happy 4th of July!

Just wanted to share a song I wrote and wish everyone a Happy 4th of July. Please remember the ones who fought, and those that continue to fight for our freedoms.

Soldier by James Clark

He’s young and he is fighting
though outside it thunders and lightings
he watches for the enemy from his bedroom window
With his hand carved hickory rifle
his grandad made in spite of
mom and grandma’s pleas for something better for a child
He’s a soldier
He’s a soldier
All he ever new of his dad
was a picture and a folded flag
and the price he paid in the name of freedom
Well he grew up tall & strong
and he learned right from wrong
and he knew he had to do his part somehow
He’s a soldier
He’s a soldier
He’s a father, he’s a son
He’s a husband and a brother to everyone
He’s a flag out flying on main street
and the ribbon around the tree
He’s a soldier
He’s still young and he’s still fighting
but in the desert there’s no lighting
and the mortar rounds echo like distant thunder
He holds tight to his M4
and remembers what he is there for
pulls out a picture and kisses it goodnight
He’s a soldier
He’s a soldier
He’s a father, he’s a son
He’s a husband and a brother to everyone
He’s a flag out flying on main street
and the ribbon around the tree
He’s a soldier
She’s a soldier
