Blame it on the rain, yeah, yeah

storm4.jpgSorry the old Mili Vanli song hit me just then…

In East Texas they say if you don’t like the weather, wait 10 minutes. Well, same goes for the West coast folks.

Ok one minute it is nice, sunny, light breeze, and I am working my tail off trying to move some stuff into a storage building until I buy a house. I get one load over to the building and come back to the apartment. I stage the next load at the door and decide to eat a bite before I load it.

Sitting down to eat, I turn the TV on…then blink the power goes out. What the crap? So I open my front door to see if my neighbor is home so I can find out if her power went out as well. I get freaking sand blasted when I open the door. The wind is blowing like crazy, dust is going everywhere, it is lighting & thundering, and then it finally starts to rain.

So I guess I will not finish moving all this crap today…looks like I will have to do it after work or something this week.
Here are some pics I took from the front door of my duplex in the projects. LOL

On a flip side – last night was pretty fun. I promised not to mention too much so it will make you all ask questions….and my mom will get really ate up with not knowing everything…LOL I went to Lubbock to meet Brooke for dinner and a night out. The weather channel said there was no chance of rain. So, I rode my bike. It was nice and hot and a good day to ride.

So I get to Lubbock and pull into the place where we were meeting…and the sky looks like something out of a science fiction movie. In my best redneck voice (which is not hard for me to pull off) I said to myself “uhh…That can’t be good”….like the guy on the dodge hemi commercial..LOL

I knew I was gonna get wet, so I started making other plans. I called Nick to get Mark’s number. Mark lives in Lubbock, so I called him to see if I could crash at his place instead of driving all the way back to Post. He was cool with it and said it looked like the storm was gonna pass pretty quickly, so I relaxed a little.

As Brooke and I finished our dinner, the rain started coming down pretty hard. She was nice enough to let me go park my bike under the awning of the shopping center there, and let me ride with her. We went out to hear a band play and all was good. We stayed dry and the storm did let up some.

I ended up staying in Lubbock and got home safe this morning after stopping for a bite to eat. Did not want to chance the ride home with wet roads, night, wind, and me being tired. Plus I knew my family and friends would probably not realize I was dead in a ditch somewhere on HWY 84 for at least 3 days. LOL

So, yeah…the weather tried to mess me out of having a good time and getting some things accomplished on my days off…but I shall prevail!!

Tomorrow night South First Band will be in Lubbock at the Blue Light. I am really looking forward to seeing them and hearing them jam. I will post more on that…
