Astros vs Rangers
My buddy Joe, was super cool and got me 4 tickets to the Astros vs Rangers game this past Friday. So, I invited Mario, Tyler, and Nick, as an attempt to convert Mario and Tyler from the dark side of the ballpark. Nick…he was a swinger (goes both ways) when we got there.
I picked up Mario and Tyler at 09:00 that morning, here in Lubbock. We headed to Nick’s house in Post. Nick voluntered to take his Buick Rendevous and us all ride together. SO we loaded up our important things like guitars, and…a change of underwear. LOL We left Nick’s house around 10:00.
We did the traditional stop at Buck’s in Sweetwater for the Bar B Q!!!!! We met Cecil and his boys there. Cecil works with Mario, Nick, and I….and his boys are Astros fans. At least Cecil raised them right. Cecil was kind of a swinger too…he really did not have a preference. So we pigged out, and then hit the road.
We arrived at the Days Inn a couple blocks from the ball park. Was not the fanciest hotel in the world, but…oh well. It gave us a place to play some guitar, lay around, and throw jokes back and forth.
We get to the ballpark in time for batting practice. Tyler runs over and gets in postion to catch a homerun ball. This was his third major league game to go to. I’ll be dipped….he catches one. Then…runs back over to the dugout side, and gets it signed. I think it was Kinsler that hit it and signed it. So he was pumped. This boy has some luck. We took him hunting for the first time last season and he killed two deer in the same day. Lucky, lucky, lucky.
After I stood around at the Astros dugout watching my boys get ready, we went and bought some things for the kids (little ones) back home. We also got our needed refreshments and I bought a pretty cool Astros cap. It was the old school Astro dome era.
Inning number 1. Lance Berkman hits a homer!!!! Whoo hooo! From there on I was busy taking pictures and making sure everyone in the ballpark was uhh….safe…and having fun….I looked up and I had let the Rangers take a serious lead by the 8th inning. So, it was my fault, I should have called Phil, but by then it was really too late. Oh well, made the hoe team fans happy.
Cecil and Nick, bought Rangers caps. What a bunch of traders. I am sure it was because they were intimidated by being at the Rangers stadium and so insecure in there choice that they needed to pick the home team. They’re choice made them feel more secure when the Ranger’s won. Poor souls, maybe one day they’ll see the light. Until then, we’ll just pray for them. LOL
Anyway, I’ll close with some pics to keep from getting us in trouble with the wives. I won’t say anything about us giong to Hooters after the game. Promise.
