Old Man from the mountain…uhh Iraq..is home!
Well my step-father made it in from overseas, safe & sound. He looks good, slimmed up I think…well a little anyway. LOL
By the request of my mother we got to the airport early…”incase his flights gets there early…”…well his flight did not get there early. In fact, his flight from Chicago to Houston was late.
We had decided to wait until we picked him up, then we would all go out to eat somewhere nice. Mistake! When his flight finally arrived, at 10:16PM…I was in starvation mode. We had no luggage to gather, since all he brought was a carry on. Smart thinking on his part.
Then we start to navigate our way out of the airport to the parking garage. We reached the terminal we parked at, went to the level we parked on…and when I stepped out of the elevator….What the crap?!? I had a full fledged construction crew and site looking at me!
After studying there faces, which to me were saying something like..”Uhh, dude you’re not supposed to be here.” and “what are these lost idiots doing?”….Sooooo I replied vocally with the first thing that popped in my head….”What’d ya’ll do with my car?!!!!”. They stood there, all work stopped, and the place fell silent. Finally, they realized I was joking and we cleared up how I got to where I was. Seems we went out the wrong side of the terminal.
So then it was back to the other side, to the truck and in search of something to eat. Well it was not what I consider a nice place…but it did fill the empty gut. Denny’s in Humble. Hmmmm all I could think was…my step-father, who has been in a 3rd world country, comes home and the first place he gets to eat is a run down, rubbery egg making Denny’s. LOL
Well it was a good drive home, and he shared some good stories. It is good to see him.
WE’ll have to take him out to some nice places while he is in to make up for that.
I will get some pics from him and have them up soon.
