Nick’s World View – distorted????LOL

My good friend Nick just came back from Iraq. He spent approximately two weeks there. When he came back he asked if I could assist him is starting a blog again. I agreed and now he is back to the wold of blogging. This post is in response to his most recent post. His post can be found here http://nicksworldview.com/?p=4

I might be a little rough on my reply – maybe even out of context – but it sure felt good to vent about it. LOL

As a follower of Jesus Christ, I believe the Bible to be the inherent word of God. I believe in Jesus’ statement: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” My fellow Christians accept this as the only way to God. I hope!?

And so while I respect the rights of all people to adopt their own beliefs, I would respectfully disagree with any religion that teaches people to put their faith in other gods. As a Christian, I have a duty to proclaim the God of the Christian faith, whose son Jesus Christ died for the sins of all mankind.

But Jesus also taught his followers to love others. It is this central teaching of Christianity that I hope motivates the life and work, of the BSSL relief worker as well as you. While as Christians we disagree with Islamic teachings, if we obey the teachings of Jesus we will love all Muslims.

I do not believe Muslims are evil people, but because of their faith, and actions through out history, it is hard not to lean toward that thinking. I believe that even the “red necks” (I feel I probably fit this stereotype – and if I do….I am proud of it) don’t hate the Muslim people in general as I feel you kind of made apparent. In fact, they probably never gave them much consideration until they decided to start targeting us “infidels”. I feel that right now in this day and time they hate the Taliban, the terrorist, the ones who feel we are infidels, etc. I personally decry the evil that has been done in the name of Islam, or any other faith–including Christianity.

I agree with President Bush that as a country we are at war with terrorists, not with Islam. But as a Christian, not a politician, not a pastor, not a red neck, I believe it is my responsibility to speak out against the terrible deeds that are committed as a result of Islamic teaching.

The brutal, dehumanizing treatment of any one who is not “true to Islam”, by the Taliban has been well-documented and internationally condemned. So, I choose not to go there for sake of the “pete repeat”.

The persecution or elimination of non-Muslims has been a cornerstone of Islamic conquests and rule for centuries. The Koran provides ample evidence that Islam encourages violence in order to win converts and to reach the ultimate goal of an Islamic world. Conversions from Islam to any other faith are often punishable by death.

One example is the treatment of non-Muslims by the Islamic government of Sudan. In the past year, a Christian organization run hospital in southern Sudan was bombed seven times by the Islamic regime in Khartoum. These bombings pale in comparison with the two million Christians and animists killed, and thousands more enslaved by the regime in recent years. I pray that you have not forgotten September 11th…it was done in the name of Islam, by a Muslim. (does that mean we hate the guys making the shoes? NO )

I thought I just said I would not repeat all that? Anyway…

I will close with saying, I understand your view of the people. But – to make the American people, “good ol` boy red necks” , or even the media, look as if they don’t have a clue because they have never sat foot on Islamic soil is ludicrous. To try and make the Muslim people look as if they are almost saints is wrong.

This is almost like saying the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is not Mormon like the “regular” Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints – they are both Mormon and both wrong.

Well….that’s my rant/reply. I think Ill get a dip of snuff, set in my recliner with my belly poking out and watch Hee-haw reruns. LOL I love this country and blogging.
