Kaden’s coop – update 1324

The chicken coop work has. Almost come to a stop due to 60mph wind gusts and a steady 20-30 mph south wind.

It brought warmer temps, but made working difficult. Daddy and I managed to get some more of the wire hung. I made the pop door operational.

Tomorrow the wind will not blow like this and mom and daddy head back home. I will finish the wire, build the feeder and waterer, make some kind of covers for the vent Windows, and work on the underside of the coop. I have decided to put a piece of plywood under the coop to act as another wind break and snow break.

I may plant something around the outside of the run to help with wind and snow drifts on the winter.

Saturday we still plan to paint everything.

I did get them started on the water nipples. Was unsure how they would take to them. I don’t see chickens as smart – however after I tapped on one for a bit they took right to them.

They are simple rigs right now. Installed them on a few water bottles and left it at that. Been two days and they are drinking fine.

Here are a few pictures to show. They will be starting 5 weeks next Tuesday. Almost time for the coop. Bonus! Uncle Jim covered his coop with vinyl siding. Guess we got him to think about his a little. Lol the first pic is of his coop.
