Kaden’s coop – complete
Coop is complete. I sprayed some of the paint to save Keagan the heart ache of earning things by pairing the whole thing. Williams sprayer is not working correctly. He was thinking it was bad paint yesterday. I think it was the lack of cleaning it up and storing it the right way. I fought it the entire time I used it. I did clean it all up – right down to scraping it with my knife and all. I have almost as much paint on me and my knife as the coop and run does. I will need to touch it up later down the road. I don’t plan…

Kaden’s Coop – Update 1125
William helped me finish up the biggest part of the build on the coop. They have water and feed – both in the run and in the coop. There will have to be some fine tuning I think, but it works for now. Plan to pipe in water from the well to the bucket. The bucket has a toilet bowl float in it which will regulate when it is full. The bucket will allow low pressure on the nipples. I found the metal bucket so I could add a heater to it in the winter. All that is left is paint and I want to build shutters for the vent…

Kaden’s coop – update 1324
The chicken coop work has. Almost come to a stop due to 60mph wind gusts and a steady 20-30 mph south wind. It brought warmer temps, but made working difficult. Daddy and I managed to get some more of the wire hung. I made the pop door operational. Tomorrow the wind will not blow like this and mom and daddy head back home. I will finish the wire, build the feeder and waterer, make some kind of covers for the vent Windows, and work on the underside of the coop. I have decided to put a piece of plywood under the coop to act as another wind break and snow…

Kaden’s Coop – Update 1009
Kaden’s coop is coming along. We are waiting for the rest of the hardware cloth to get here – expected Tuesday. I built the door today. Daddy and William helped cut and hang the wire we had. We also cut the vent Windows. I will trim them out and make a little cover for them before we call it complete. William is going to bring the family over Saturday for a little BBQ. We will use his sprayer to paint the wire and all Saturday morning. Then eat later that evening. Looking good for a city chicken coop. Lol

Palo Duro Canyon – cold
Had a pretty good cold front roll in. Yesterday it was cold, but last night it got down to 27. I went out and covered the holding tank pump around 10PM just in case. When it warms up a little I am going to work on the run some more. I want to get the roof on before Monday since the wind is suppose to be up around 30mph over about 3 days. After the roof is on, it’s just the wire panels and door. I can do that in the wind if need be. I know I said we would take the next few days off, but I need…
