My life, your life … iLife ’06
So I decided to buy iLife ’06 today. My Mac’s have been prompting me that there was a new version out. So maybe they’ll leave me alone for a while. Here is my scoop so far on it…
First let me say that iLife is an awesome group of applications for creativity. I use Garage Band for song writting and as a practice tool. We might even start using it for pod casting – for the church web site. I love the way iPhoto allows me to easily import my pics from my digital camera. It also has the nifty little calendars and photo books you can make then order. I have yet to do that, but want to soon. Better than the old photo albums with the sticky transparent film. LOL iMovie & iDVD – oh yeah had fun with these. I made a funny little DVD of my brother and I riding our new motorcyles when we got them last year. So… yeah it is nice – it’s Mac!
Now they have updated all the applications I just mentioned, and added iWeb. iWeb is pretty…and I mean the designs are nice. Clean, modern, what you would you expect from Apple…right? Well that is about where it stopped for me. I was fooling around with it and noticed it does not produce very nice source code. Also, unlike WordPress (clarksite.com proudly uses WordPress), it does not allow any real blogging features. I kept having flash backs of FrontPage…sorry but it is true. It is like a more stylish Frontpage. Anyway, I guess it won’t be bad for some people. I may give it a shot for some thing like the band for a while. May make my life a little easier…until I finish the new design for the band.
So, I guess Apple wanted to add the web site/blog feature to their iLife package. ’bout time! I just hope there is an update released for a database verion that allows blog posts, and cleaner, more standard code that can be customized. You know…for us geeks.
OK, so I spent a long time in Lubbock yesterday looking at new motorcycles. I am in love with the new Honda VTX 1800F (the pic to the right is the one I really want!), and the 1300 C. I decided I needed a cruiser out here, something that was a little heavier. The wind out here is vicious at times, and there is no way I can fight it for a ride back home on my Katana 750. LOL
I hope to have one soon, I am really wanting to ride back to Lufkin one weekend. Then plan a trip to Austin, visit my youngest brother and catch some bands on 6th street. The VTX will be the bike that I can do my gypsy riding on (take off with no hurry and no particular palce to go), and not have to fight the wind so bad. LOL Since my move out to west, I have been wanting to just take a weekend and ride to a town, spend the night or something and ride back. Guess all this wide open spaces makes me want to do it, LOl or maybe I am just crazy.
Well, church in the morning and then I need to start getting some stuff completed on the new design for the band web site, the church web site, and my laundry washed. LOL
So when there is something else for me to ramble about I will.
Peace,
JC
