NSB B-Day party…. hmmm bet she’ll never forget it.

Well, I hate to so rudely honest, but I think we did a pretty bad job this weekend as far as the band goes. It was not the worst show ever, but running a close race with it.

The band played a birthday party this weekend. It was the 50th birthday party for Mark’s mom (who for the record looked much younger–that’s me trying to make up for the show). I hope we did not make it a disaster, but I bet she won’t forget it either. LOL

Yeah, I’ll try not to make to many excuses, but we did sound pretty rough. First, we are still getting used to these IEM’s (in ear monitors). After wrestling with them and finally getting an ‘acceptable’ setting and mix…we moved on…then as soon as we hit the stage mine went to clipping got way to loud…and I had to take them out of my ears to keep my brain from splitting. LOL Brice said his stared clipping real bad soon after mine, and Nick and Stephen were not pleased with theirs either.

Next excuse…we are rusty! We have not really played that much in a while…we have a great new drummer and we are getting better, but still have to do some work to get us all familiar with the structure of the songs and tighter as a band. Plus we normally only play our originals and some Christian covers (Third Day, Casting crowns, etc.)…this weekend the second set was country and rock! So, I guess we should have practiced more. LOL

I actually think that if we would have had no problems with the monitors, we would have done a much better job. Some songs, I guess we should have practiced more…because everyone was going different directions on them which never sounds good. LOL

Anyway, it is a done deal. No one shot us, everyone said they enjoyed it….maybe by some miracle it did sound decent out there in the audience…but where I stood…it sounded…bad. Of course I know we are our own worse critics too.

So yeah, we are getting geared up for some new shows…. let you know more some other time. I am going to bed.

In prayer,
James
