Sweetwater Rattlesnake Round-up ’06
Well, you know the saying ‘while in Rome…’, so I did the ‘While in West Texas…” version of it. Sweetwater, TX held their 48th annual World’s Largest Rattlesnake Round-Up this weekend. I figured I would attend. LOL It was pretty crazy.
Nick, Pepper, and the boys went too. Nick and I took the opportunity to ride our bikes down. It was roughly a 174 mile round trip according to my trip meter. It was a real nice ride, plenty of sun and wind. LOL
We had a pack of bikers pass us on the way, and one of them had a lady on the back who took a picture of Nick and one of me when she passed. Nick parked near them and exchanged emails, so hopefully we’ll obtain a copy of the pictures. That was definitely a first for me, having my picture taken while doing 75 MPH down a highway.
I saw some really nice bikes while I was riding in and parking. Even got some compliments on mine. Had a guy say he liked the sound of my bike when I was getting ready to leave. I gave him my parking spot and snapped a pic of his bike. Pretty nice. Here is a shot of it:
These people and the snakes were crazy. I took some pics of the handling and milking of the snakes. Even shot a little video which is below. To see all the pics, check out the Clarksite Gallery.
Now this video is about to prove how thin the line is between bravery and stupidity really is. Let me know which side you think this guy is on. Once you watch it the first time…go back and watch it again. This time, however, don’t focus on the snake that is on the table. Instead, watch the guys feet as he moves around to the left side of the table…

We had to eat Rattlesnake before we left, so we tried some fine fried rattlesnake. It tasted pretty blan…but at least it did not taste anything like the smell of them doing the skinning. LOL.
Aaron and Jude, Nick and Pepper’s boys, rode some rides at the carnival. Check out the pics in the gallery of them also.
Well I will leave you to the pics in the gallery and the video. Had fun, the bike has a little more ‘ummph!’ to it and sounds a lot better with the new pipes. So, I’ve had a great day. Now it is time to kick back and relax.
Post some comments of what you think.
Later,
