Blessings – not what you think sometimes

We are moved into the new house – not settled, but we’re in! It took some long hours and hard work, but we did it….and we id not do it alone.

I was talking to my Grandma Nancy last night on the phone. She called to see if we finished the painting and got our stuff moved. She said her and Grandpa had been talking all weekend about “wonder if James and Jace got their stuff moved”.

I started telling her about the hours put in – the lifting – and the help. That’s when I realized how blessed Jace and I have been. Sure we know our kids are blessings, the house itself is a blessing, our jobs, etc….but sometimes we over look how much of a blessing friends can be.

Mario & Leeann, Juan & Misty, and their kids…they all were a true blessing. There is no way we could have completed this, as fast as we did, without them.

Mario & Juan had just completed a shutdown at the plant – so they both had put in some long hours already this week. I had told Jace “they may not be able to help because of the hours and work they did all week”. So we were braced to try and get as much done as possible ourselves – even though Mario and Juan kept calling and saying we’ll be there!

Next thing I know – Leeann is packing the apartment like a machine. Mario, Juan, and I are getting the heavy stuff….which included getting the piano upstairs. Yep, the piano upstairs….took all three of us, but when it was up…it did not seem so bad. LOL

Misty helped us with boxes and helped Jace unpack some things a the house. Ethan & little Juan helped too.

It was a weekend of hard work and long hours for all of us, but especially Mario and Juan. I think we could all look at them and model some of our life after them. Always there to help a friend – no excuses. I can’t say that I may not have had an excuse for at least one of those days.

So, we got the painting done – kids rooms, living room, and master bedroom, and everything but a truck load of small stuff is at the new house. The rest we’ll get this weekend. Mario and Juan will be there again to help move the stuff and wire up the in-wall surround sound and mount the TV on the wall. We’ll do a cookout too!

Lesson learned this weekend – never take a friend for granted – never miss a chance to help your friends. You may be sore and tired the following Monday, but the reward is much better.

Off to get some things done – I will put some pics of the house up soon….go to find the cameras first. LOL
