A fun weekend – of work!

Seems like boxes and stuff just keeps popping up. We open, un-pack, and put things away, turn around…taa daa! another box. LOL

We got a lot done this weekend, but still have a ways to go before we cross the finish line.

We had a few friends over this weekend. Juan & Misty, Mario & Leeann, Nick & Pepper, Chad & Carra, Niki, Tyler, Ethan, Aaron, and Jude all showed up for a little cook out.

We had planned to go get the truck load from storage, so everything would be out of there, but scheduling got a little messed up. LOL

I forgot David was going to show up to do the kitchen. He got to the house around 9AM and I helped him tape off the kitchen. He started the texturing on the walls. Looked pretty good when he left even though there was no paint on it …again. He worked until around noon. His wife, Angie, and daughter stopped by to meet us face to face for the first time and look at the house.

Nick & Pepper and the boys showed up around that time. Followed shortly by Mario, Leeann, Niki, Tyler, Ehtan, Chad and Carra. David wrapped up things and went home to spend time with his family….we got started with the days events…some what.

Mario, Nick, and I ran to town and picked up a new gas grill, the ribs, and the chicken. Jace had already got everything else we needed earlier that morning. We got back to the house and started the cooking. It was supposed to wait until we did the moving and hang the TV on the wall …and a few other things…but hey, we were all hungry. LOL

Everyone brought something to eat for the cook out. Banana pudding, some kind of choclate layer thing that treated you as if it were the devil himself. It kept tempting me…and I gave in to a huge portion of it after the ribs and chicken. LOL

So, the evening progressed and we watched some of the LSU and Aburn game. Then Nick and I started playing a little guitar and stuff in the studio/music room upstairs. Next thing I know we have everyone coming up there with folding chairs and standing around listening. They gave us requests, which I did my best to remember the words to. Been a few months since I sat down and played a entire song from start to end. It was fun, and I hope we can do more of that.

Later in the evening, I came up with the idea of hanging the TV on the wall. We had Chad, an electrician…Nick who was an electrician for Exxon a while…Mario…who has some common sense…Juan who just knows how to get things done right…and me who had a mission. LOL We had it one the wall, wires hidden, speaker leveled and back to watching some football in no time. Well…ok about an hour or so. We had a little mis-communication and fun while doing it. Like when Juan acted like he almost dropped the TV…I almost cried.

Meanwhile – outside on the back patio, the women decided they would build the fire bowl and start a fire. Leeann popped her head in the door to brag about “we started a fire”. I could not resist the moment to comment. I said “well ours was a little more complicated, but I do praise y’all on the accomplishment of building a fire. Man has been able to do this since the caveman days”. It brought a good round of laughter from the guys and Leeann shut the door. LOLLOLOLOLOLOL

Everyone left around 7:30 – 8PM. Juan and Misty stayed with us, since they had a 2 hour drive back to Snyder. We all hit the sack around 9:30 – which felt like 2AM to us.

I was back up around 8AM and David arrived around 9 again to finish up with the paint.

It was awesome to watch the technique he uses to do the finish. I am going to try it at least once – at Mario’s house. LOL He finished the kitchen by about 2PM I think. It looks awesome. Favorite room in the house ….uhh after my music studio.

Anyway, we are getting ready to turn in for the evening…so take a look at the newest pics up on the site. Let me know what ya think. Here is the link http://picasaweb.google.com/jclark845/OurHouse
