Life

Here goes a quick update.

Still no eggs from the chickens. I expect we will see our first egg soon though. Kaden still thinks one of them might be a rooster. I know he knows better. He knows more about chickens than anyone I know. I think it is a tactic to get a rooster – which we don’t need.Kaden has been taking good care of the chickens. He helps me clean out the coop and he lets them out every morning and puts them up every night by himself. I think I will hold off on the automation of the door for now. It’s good for him to go out and tend to them, and he enjoys it. We did just switch them to layer feed.

I have picked a few green beans and yellow beans. Enough for a good meal with a few leftovers. The seed Uncle Jim sent me all came up, so I am sure we will have plenty once they start producing. I will pull all my onions next weekend.

I went for a business trip to San Antonio for a week. Won’t give many details because I don’t want to talk about work on here anymore if I can keep from it. Let’s just say that it was wonderfully informative and a long week. I guess I am finally getting older. Technology is really changing in the Automation world finally – looking forward to the progress.

I can’t help but wish I lived in the Hill Country area when I visit. I come back and start looking at land there – even though we can’t buy any land right now. Never hurts to look – right?

We even planned our vacation there this year. Rented a little private cabin down on the Blanco river. It is a small cabin that sleeps 6. It has a creek on the property, which is several acres, and 500’ of river shoreline. Should be fun for all. Swimming, fishing, exploring, and relaxing. We have invited the parents to come as well. Mom said something about snakes…???….it’s Texas….not sure of a place in Texas that does not have something that will bite you…and kill you.

That reminds me of some wisdom I came across the other day. The first part is an old adage that we have all probably heard – the second part – rings even more truth. It goes “What doesn’t kill you, only makes you stronger. Except rattlesnakes – rattles snakes will kill you!”.

With that I will leave you with a few pictures.
