East Bound and Down…again.
“East bound and down. Loaded up and truckin’. We’re gonna do what they say can’t be done. We got a long way to go and a short time to get there. I’m east bound just watch ‘ol Bandit run.” Sing it Mr. Jerry Reed! Sing it!
Yes, it is that time again – I’m head back to Lufkin town. I guess the last time I was down there was Thanksgiving of last year – can’t really remember – but I think that is correct. This time I have plans. LOL
The main reason for the trip is to help Mom and Daddy get all their stuff moved to their new home. They sold the old place and purchased a new one…now we have to pack and move nearly 20 years of stuff. Sounds like fun doesn’t it? Actually they have most of it packed and ready – or so they tell me. I hope they do. LOL
While I am down, I am going to try to squeeze in some East Texas bow hunting. Mom has seen a few deer near the house – I’m gonna see if they show up while I am there. I don’t want the new owners to be worried about their garden being trampled and eaten by those vicious deer. LOL Consider me pest control.
I am in hopes that my wife gets to go with me. I would enjoy her company on the long drive and she is handy as a packer and mover as well. LOL
…and as an added bonus for being a Clarksite.com reader – here is a special gift from the News media out there. A couple stories that caught my eye.
Spider sex
One puzzler the team turned up: While the females were gaining in fecundity, males seemed to be losing their sexual prowess.
Sex between male and female Nephila spiders typically leaves females unable to re-mate and males castrated. “Males stick their business end up the females and then they break it off, and in doing so they plug the female,” Coddington said.
The team compared the shape of the male pedipalps, or a pair of appendages used to transfer sperm, with that of the female genitals in Nephila species.
“These guys have long, whippy pedipalps, and over evolutionary time they seem to be gradually losing the ability to plug up females,” Coddington said.

A man is claiming a hospital misdiagnosed him with rectal cancer and then “unnecessarily gave him an artificial rectum,” Agence France-Presse reported.
The man, who lives in Japan, underwent surgery in March to remove his “tumor,” but was later told no cancer cells were found.
The man, whose name is being withheld for privacy reasons, is suing the hospital for $416,171, according to a report filed with the Miyazaki District Court.
“We will take appropriate action after examining the case,” a hospital official said.
