Life

Let the celebration begin!

LOL Yeah it is one of my favorite times of year again. My birthday! Means I am another year older, made it one more year through all the good and bad. I count that as an accomplishment. My family decided to celebrate a little early, this weekend, since my actual birthday is next week. Here’s how it went

Keagan, my step-daughter, was not here last year for my birthday and wanted to be. So this year, they planned it to where she could be present. I had my wife, kids, in-laws, Craig & Angela, and their kids over. It was not a big get together, but a fun one.

We did some grilling, made homemade ice cream, nearly burned the house down with my cake, and I got some awesome presents.

Like the kid I am, I had been saving some money up for a bass and bass amp (Budgeting is key). My wife, always wanting to know what I am up too, inquired about the bass. I told her all about what I felt I wanted. She took note.

She bought me a nice used 2008 Fender Jazz Bass with the Leo Quan Bad Ass II bridge, and a SKB flight case for it. M wife rocks! Then with the birthday money I was getting, the money saved up, I was off to Guitar Center to buy a decent amp.

I settled on the Gallien-Kruger Backline 600 and a 2-10″ GK GLX cab. Sounds pretty sweet. I played on a few and almost settled on the Ampeg, but I know a bassist that has had a few problems with his. I also liked the Acoustic line that is back out on the shelf now days. In the end it was the GK though. It had a little more clarity, and punch to me.

So to all of you who sent me money or will be sending – the amp and cab is what you bought me. To everyone who came over, sent cards, called, etc. I love y’all! Thanks! To those of you waiting until the actual day…here’s a thanks in advance.

I hope to stick around another year to make everyone mad, happy, or just think your normal. Thanks to everyone for making another year of my life enjoyable. It would truly ‘slurp’ without friends and family.

Mom, Daddy, Andrew….y’all better come visit me soon.
