Ohio – St. Louis

Grandpa & Me
Grandpa & Me

Well, we headed out for St. Louis today on our way back to Texas. If you did not get the update, we voted not to go to Nashville this year. Jace, and the kids held the majority on the vote to stay in Ohio and visit family. I really wanted to hang out in Nashville, but I got something even better…more time with family.

One of the best perks, for me personally, about staying in Ohio a couple extra days was getting the chance to attend lodge with my Grandpa, Uncle, and two cousins. One cousin was getting his first degree last night, and I got to attend. I won’t say too much here…would not want to have to track down my readers and kill them…LOL You know how we Mason’s are!?!?!?!

I have to admit, there were a couple times during the meeting where I almost lost it and started crying like a baby. Sorry, maybe you have no idea what I am talking about, but it was

really touching for me. I know some of you think you know what Masonry is about – you know all the secrets – but I can tell you the truth the secrets are not viewable – not physical…they’re hidden in the heart of every Mason.

The night was very special – to say the least. It is the first time for me to attend lodge with my family – except my brother.

Jace had us all rolling with her “infiltration” of our Masonic rituals. She is a complete nut…in fact I think she should write a book and have it published – she knows about as much as the other anti-masonic books I have in my library. All I will say, for sake of us all remembering is “Who’s that at the door? Oh it’s you MM!” LOL

Jace also learned the value of the simpler life. How it is work, but relaxing all at the same time. How you plant, work the field, harvest, prepare, can…and how much better, cheaper, and more full-filling it is. In fact, I am afraid we are going to become full fledged farmers by next week. LOL I’ll have to help pace her a little, but I am all for it. I am sure Grandma told her all the secrets and tricks of the trade for canning.

I think Grandma was training her…Jace even got a little more “cocky” on the way home. Thanks Grandma. LOL

The entire trip was really fun and inspirational, not to mention short. It seemed like we had only just arrived and then packing the car for the trip back home.

Anyway, I am sure once I get my thoughts together there will be another post on the vacation, maybe even a song or two I started while there…but for now we are in St. Louis.

We rolled in around 9 PM and it is awesome. We are staying right here next to the arch and river. The lights, and view are pretty awesome. The room is pretty snazzy itself. Which, I want to make note of since my Uncle thinks when I travel with Jace I always stay in a cheap dump. LOL

Any hoo! I am off here, about to get some room service and get ready for bed. We are going to walk around St. Louis a little in the morning before we head south bound. I am bringing a case of home made wine home too. Send me your sermons if ya want, but it is good, and home made….everyone knows home made is better for you!!!!
