Vacation 2016 – we had fun!
It’s all over now. We made it back home. Jace was off to work today and I mowed the yard and cleaned the chicken coop. I have this week off. Need to dig potatoes and all. Ava Grace keeps wanting to know if we can go swimming, fishing, or down to the river. I wish we could. It was surely relaxing and allowed for a great recharge. Look forward to doing something like this again soon. I really am hooked on kayak fishing (pun intended). I could have stowed my gear away, and went down river forever I think. Jace said she enjoyed it enough that she would like one as…

Vacation day 3 – update
We have had a great time so far. The place we rented is what I would like to live in when retirement comes. Or before! We have a lazy cold stream next to the house, deer walking around the 10 acres, and the Blanco river is about 100 yards away. Oaks, scattered along the hills, hammocks hanging in a few of them make for a quick recharge. Not many pictures at this point because we’ve been busy having fun and getting wet most of the time. Kaden saw me catching fish yesterday on my fly rod, and told me that he and I had a fishing date for this morning.…

Getting ready for that vacation!
One more short week at work – then we are on our way! We will have folks coming over to look after the dog and I have William tending chickens. His pay is whatever eggs he gathers and what ever he wants to pick from the garden. Good friend! Yes, I said eggs. Kaden’s girls have laid there first egg. He was estatic. He was thanking me and telling me how awesome I was – I told him I did not lay the egg – I only found it. (see pictures). I also got my birthday present. A new fly rod combo and a chest rig. They even got me…

July 2nd weekend blast
Oh yeah…July 4th Independence day happened also. The 2nd is my birthday, so I tend to be a little bias towards what all the celebration is about. Pulled all my onions – see the pictures. I gave a few to my neighbors and a few guys at work. Will be planting the same next year. They did well. The neighborhood we live in puts on a heck of an Independence day party. Parade, fireworks, food, live bands, and all the good stuff. We did not really go to the main show. Spent some time with the neighbors and all. Made for a long night. Had some friends come by for…

Here goes a quick update.
Still no eggs from the chickens. I expect we will see our first egg soon though. Kaden still thinks one of them might be a rooster. I know he knows better. He knows more about chickens than anyone I know. I think it is a tactic to get a rooster – which we don’t need.Kaden has been taking good care of the chickens. He helps me clean out the coop and he lets them out every morning and puts them up every night by himself. I think I will hold off on the automation of the door for now. It’s good for him to go out and tend to them,…
