iPhone + Fender + IK Multimedia = Almost Heaven!

Oh yes, I love my wife, I love my kids, and I love playing guitar. Unfortunately my wife does not like me to play as often as I do while sitting in the living room with my amp going – or upstairs with it really cranked. LOL I found something that helps a bit, with bonuses.

My main amp, a 1979 Fender Deluxe Reverb (with a few light modifications and really road worn tolex) is awesome. I love it. It is just not the amp you want me to play on if you’re in the same room trying to watch TV. I promise. So,, how can I get what I want and still give my wife what she wants…here we go.

I had been studying the IK Multimedia AmpliTube for iphone, but did not really care for all the amps and extras. I wanted something a bit more simple (or limited). I got an email from them about the release of AmpliTube Fender for iPhone. Sweet! I thought. So I went to their web site to investigate. (AmpliTube Fender) It looked nice, and I downloaded the free version. Yup, they have a free version. Free is awesome!

Now, how do I plug my guitar into my iPhone…well IK Multimedia has a remedy for that. (Probably the reason they have the free downloads…little marketing ya know?). After I checked out the app on my iPhone 4, I decided yeah I may just have to buy that iRig.

Yet another twist! Craig bought Austin a guitar, and even Craig wants to get one to start learning more. Well, good ol’ Craig bought an iRig at Best Buy. I got to try it out as soon as we got back to his house. I was impressed enough, that I ordered one.

Get to the point! I got my iRig, bought the full Fender version of AmpliTube for iPhone and can play along with my favorite songs in my iTunes library. Even slow them down without changing pitch. All from my iPhone with headphones and have a screaming Fender amp – yet only in my ears – no one elses.

I mentioned bonuses – I found a few. I can carry this with me to the lake, vacation, where ever without taking my precious amp for another ride that it really does not need to go on. If in the weird event that my amp crashes – with a simple patch cord, I could actually use this live. Now, that would be a desperate measure, but hey – it could save the night! LOL

Anyway, I recommend this for any guitarist that has some of the same things going on around there need to play and their household. It is worth every penny. Take a few minutes to check it out on the IK Multimedia site – here is the link again.
